This book made me laugh out loud - literally. A fantastic, funny twist on classic fairy tales, this book has it all - Little Red Riding Shorts who never gets to tell her story, Jack and the Beanstalk with a publicity hungry giant, and even Cinderella who blows her chance to go to the ball. This is a great book for kids of all ages - a must read for the whole family.
I was tutoring a child and he specifically told me that he loved this book and did not have it at home. I couldn't resist buy buy it for him. It's a great book that takes classic stories and "turns them upside down" by adding humor and slightly changing the stories to make them much more interesting to read. Great book for any child, especially one who can be resistant to reading.
The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales was a book I remember reading at the library and I found its off-the-wall humor very interesting. It's a book that I've always wanted to have in my son's book collection. I love that it can be read as separate stories as much as a complete work, and that the quirks of the stories are experienced through the genial, if sometimes cranky, fictional author. It's a really fun book.
The Stinky Cheese Man is a fair tale retold in "modern" times. Formed from a block of gouda (or some other prominent-smelling cheese that I can't recall exactly), with olives for eyes, and a strip of bacon for a "smile," the stinky cheese man comes alive and wreaks havoc on the town, saying, "You can't catch me; I'm the stinky cheese man." It's fun to read along with, the pictures are eye-catching and illustrative of the story, and it's an instant classic.I recently purchased the book for my mother to read with my younger brother. It was one of my favorite books from childhood and a frequent item checked out from the school library. It's a modern (stinky) adaptation of the Gingerbread Man story, full of humor, wit, and parody. The Stinky Cheese Man is a great for any parent to read with (and laugh with) their child. And if I may say so, it's a fun coffee table book for any adult to use as a conversation-starter.
So I bought it for my young niece to enjoy the same experience I did as a child n' she just loves it too. I read this book in grammar school n' just absolutely loved it. It's funny n' witty. The style is just out of this world and yet it blends together so perfectly. Definitely a great read, and a must buy for any age.
